| Over the next ten years the Strategic Rail Authority's
considerable challenge is to lead the development and implementation of
projects for improving Britain's rail network. The SRA's portfolio is complex and diverse,
from projects like Crossrail, to programmes such as: franchise replacement,
the provision of modern facilities at stations, and West Coast Route Modernisation.The rail industry faces challenges of growth and the need to improve
performance and service quality, against a backdrop of rising costs.
We have just published Strategic Plan 2003 where we explain how the industry is working
together to tackle these challenges.
