Deputy Project Leader

I started working part time at a Prime Focus hostel and enjoyed it so much that I explored working with them full time. They sponsored me through college, supporting me to achieve a BTec in SOcial Care as well as a conselling course, NVQ3 and NEBS Management qualification. Whilst still working at the Hoste, I read about an exciting new project in one of the Prime Focus bulletins and decided to apply. Providing 44 self contained flats with 24hour cover and 2 hot meals a day for Irish men over the age of 50, I'm now the Deputy Project Leader here, looking forward to becoming Project Leader once the project is fully up and running. Undoubtedly the most satisfying part of my job is seeing people who have never had access to this type of accommodation before, with regular hot meals, setting in to somewhere that they can finally call home. And, on top of the excellent training offer, there's also a special camaraderie in the team, making Prime Focus a unique working experience.

Resettlement Support Worker (Gibbs Road)

Gibbs Road is a Hostel that caters for homeless of al ages and gender. It's a transitional stop before finding proper accommodation, although one of the men has been here for 28 years! I've worked for Prime Focus for nearly 10 years, manly as a Housekeeper. Recently I've been seconded to a Resettlement Support Worker position. This is a really satisfying job, helping people get a home of their own by getting onto housing lists, securing housing and even shopping for furniture. I'm there to support them every step of the way, building really strong relationships. Since taking the secondment last December, I've already received trainging in mental health problems and drug abuse, all I have to do is ask and I get allocated a place really quickly. With all of this great suport and development and the chance to change lives every day, I simply couldn't imagine working anywhere else.
