Provident Financial is a FTSE 250 company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Established in 1880, we are the UK and Ireland’s leading provider of home credit, serving 1.49 million home credit customers in the UK and Ireland.

Since 1997 we have expanded out of our traditional UK and Irish markets, and now serve a further 1.8 million home credit customers in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Mexico. In addition, our Insurance and Credit Card businesses serve around 600,000 customers.

Our UK and Ireland Home Credit Division operates via two brands, Provident Personal Credit and Greenwood Personal Credit.

Home credit is one of a range of credit services in the UK and Ireland, providing small, short-term, unsecured loans. There is a fixed, all-in charge; no hidden surprises in the small print; and a weekly home-collection service arranged at a time to suit the customer.

Our UK and Ireland Home Credit Division has 11,800 agents, most of whom (79%) are women and the factor which differentiates home credit from other kinds of credit is the home collection service. The company agent's weekly visit sits at the very heart of the business. It enables agents to develop good relationships with their customers and make sensible lending decisions. Agents are paid on the basis of what they collect, not what they issue. So it is in their - and their customers' - interests to lend amounts which are manageable.
