Mark, from Carlisle, relocated to Bath after joining us straight from university after completing his Masters in Finance & Investment.
I was attracted to L&C because I knew I wouldn’t be paid just a basic salary, but a salary that reflected my efforts. If you do well here, it’s recognised and you are rewarded for the contribution that you make.
Dave worked for Sainsburys for 20 years, becoming a deputy store manager before deciding a new challenge. He heard about L&C through friends, and has been a mortgage adviser since 2002.
I have no regrets about coming to L&C. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I wish I’d begun this when I was 20. I really like helping the public because I’ve a background in dealing with people. Within this environment — unlike retail —people are grateful for your efforts. It proves you don’t have to have a financial background to be a success at L&C. It was a real culture shock to start studying again aged 39 for my Cemap exams. It meant that I had to be really committed from the start—which I was.
