About Provident
Provident Personal Credit Ltd. forms part of the Provident Financial group, a personal services group focussed on credit, cash collections and insurance. We provide a personal, flexible, straightforward and convenient service to our customers.
Home credit is one of a range of credit services used regularly by consumers in the UK, where the industry serves an estimated 3 million customers. Home credit companies provide small, short-term, unsecured loans. Customers typically borrow between £150-500 over a period of 6 months or a year. There is a fixed, all-in charge; no hidden surprises in the small print; and a weekly home-collection service arranged at a time that is convenient for the customer. Home credit provides customers with a simple, convenient, transparent and flexible service.
The factor which differentiates home credit from other kinds of credit is the home collection service. The company agent's weekly visit sits at the very heart of the business. It enables agents to develop good relationships with their customers and make sensible lending decisions.
Agents are paid on the basis of what they collect, not what they issue. So it is in their - and their customers' - interests to lend amounts which are manageable.
Provident Personal Credit has 10,000 agents in the UK, most of whom (81%) are women. Our agents tend to come from the same communities as their customers; and many have been customers before becoming agents. Our agent system provides significant employment opportunities in communities throughout the UK.
Our greatest resource is our people. This is because we depend so much on the relationship between agents and customers. Agents in turn need good, supportive relationships with development managers, and so it continues up the chain.
Support for agents is structured and comprehensive. It covers product information, responsibilities under consumer credit law, how to manage arrears, and so on. Every agent has a weekly meeting with their Development Manager to review his/her customers' accounts.
Our employees also benefit from regular performance appraisals with their managers. Our training programmes are constantly being developed to take account of individual needs. At Provident, good people rise quickly. As part of helping people to progress, we encourage our managers to gain formal qualifications.
We encourage employees to take part in further education and provide sponsorship for appropriate courses. Our appraisal scheme allows us to identify training and development needs amongst our employees as well as giving staff the opportunity to discuss their career aspirations. We offer competitive basic salaries plus performance related bonus in some positions. Add to this a share option scheme, and generous holiday entitlement and you have a substantial remuneration package. So why look further? Come and join our successful team and look forward to a fantastic future.
