Mole Valley Farmers is a progressive and diverse business with an annual turnover of £164M. The business is made up of 4 company brands; Mole Valley Farmers and SCATS Countrystores, who make up the country’s largest rural retailing company; Southern Valley Feeds manufacture and distribute animal feeds and minerals; Mole Valley Forage Services manufacture and distribute agricultural fertiliser. The Company also has an engineering works that manufactures farm buildings and equipment.
Our Head Office is based in South Molton, North Devon, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, situated as it is on the fringe of Exmoor and close to the spectacular coast of North Devon.
Mole Valley Farmers retail branches are situated in nine locations from Cornwall to Somerset and have an annual turnover of £64M. SCATS Countrystores have eighteen outlets from Dorset to Kent and have an annual turnover of £29M.
All our stores offer a wide variety of products for farmers, rural dwellers and the general public with up to 21,000 product lines on offer to all who want to shop in our bright and well stocked stores.
Our History
The company (Mole Valley Farmers) was founded in 1960 when a group of farmers realised that buying in bulk would result in better prices for the group “members”, and that principle is carried forward into today’s environment.
Under the guidance of the Board of Directors, all of whom derive their main source of income from farming, the day to day running of the company is the responsibility of a senior management team. The company continues to grow and flourish.
In recent years, a number of acquisitions have been made including SCATS Countrystores in September 2002 and Southern Valley Feeds in February 2005. Today we employ over 1100 people across the business.
