Assurance - Insurance/Reinsurance
We serve several SEC registrants assuming property catastrophe, excess liability and other property and casualty risks. We also serve numerous captive, association captive, mutual, rent-a-captive, separate cell and other insurance and reinsurance enterprises writing property casualty business and some life business.
For our SEC clients we have full capability to assist with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and we have firm specialists in internal audit (Enterprise Risk Services). All SEC services are performed with the required consultation with our US firm. We also have significant expertise in systems (Management Consulting).
We audit and advise on statutory filings required by the Insurance Act 1978 and related Regulations. Through our specialized actuarial and tax practices we advise our clients on the complex areas of reserve estimation and international tax planning and compliance.
Assurance – Alternative Investments
We have a specialist team of auditors who audit numerous alternative investment enterprises (commonly referred to as hedge funds).
Our clients are companies, partnerships and other corporate entities operating as open or closed end funds. Investment strategies adopted by our clients vary tremendously from non-correlated to partially-correlated to correlated to the market in general. To accomplish these strategies our clients invest long and short in various investments and sometimes use derivatives to accomplish their investment goals. Our clients have investments in securities and derivatives that include equities (private and public), bonds, convertible arbitrage, other alternative investment companies (fund of funds) and numerous derivatives (for either investment trading or hedging purposes).
We conduct audits in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and ensure that the requirements of overseas exchanges registrants are met (e.g. Dublin and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission CFTC).
We have significant expertise that allows us to obtain valuations of investments and to consult on methods to calculate investment advisor fees. We can also advise on tax planning and compliance issues using our international tax group who have significant experience in these areas.
