![]() Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) is not a new idea to Cadbury Schweppes. Our founders were well known for their fair treatment of employees, their contribution to the community and ethical sourcing of raw materials. Today we still believe that doing business responsibly is in the best interests of all our stakeholders - consumers, customers, shareowners, employees, suppliers and other business partners - who work together with us. We also have a clear commitment to the communities and to the environment in which we operate. While the nature of our value chain and the new global economy brings new issues and many challenges, our CSR programme provides the framework to integrate our values into everything we do. Our Purpose and Values and Our Business Principles set out our beliefs and the framework for behaviours throughout all our businesses. Our ethical sourcing standards and our international Human Rights and Ethical Trading Policy set out the values by which we do business with our partners, suppliers and customers with whom we share a responsibility for ensuring high standards throughout the value chain. These standards and the policy have been developed taking into account the highest global standards - such as the International Labour Organisation conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - as well as cultural and legal best practice from our local markets. In 2004 we also publicly committed to the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. We have developed Growing Community Value Around the World, a global strategy to demonstrate the part we can all play to assist local communities. We aim to invest 1 per cent of our pre-tax profits, and have established guidelines to measure and manage our community investment activities. |
