The first Benjys store was opened by the Benjamin family in Islington in 1989. In August 2000, Benjys underwent a management buy out led by Ian Rickwood. As Chief Executive and Commercial Director husband and wife team, Ian and Emma Rickwood, have cleaned up the company, improved quality standards and re-engineered the brand, transforming Benjys into a leading sandwich chain, providing outrageous value across a constantly evolving product range. Although the Benjys brand has been around for 15 years the majority of expansion has taken place in the last five years, overseen by the Rickwoods.
