| Introduction |
|
Claranet is the largest non-telco ISP for business in the UK, and one of the leading ISPs in Europe.
Whatever the Internet requirements - from email at home for easy, instant communication,
to domain name registration, web hosting, e-commerce, leased lines, ADSL, SDSL and
network connections - Claranet has a wide portfolio of high quality products and services
to meet the needs of the European business customer.
|
| Overview |
Established in 1996, the company has hosting centres in the UK, France, Germany and Spain and is
one of the few British-born ISPs to expand successfully on the continent.
One of the only profitable ISPs around, our growth was customer driven,
achieved without acquisitions, until the end of 2000, which allowed us
to focus on delivering a homogenously high quality of service across the UK, France and Germany.
The opening of Claranet Germany followed significant investment in the company's European backbone,
providing direct links between its major data centres in mainland Europe and London,
increasing resilience and significantly extending the range of services the company
offers across Europe.
Claranet now has extensive bandwidth infrastructure - 2 Gb in the UK, 3 x 155 Mbs in Europe and
multiple transit links.
In December 2000, we acquired a Spanish ISP in Barcelona and launched Claranet Spain.
By sharing a common infrastructure, and offering services across the UK, France, Germany and Spain,
we are widening our appeal to businesses that need pan-European IP services.
We are a full member of the London Internet Exchange (LINX), DeCix in Frankfurt and PARIX,
MAE Paris and FreeIX in Paris.

Our strategy of remaining independent has permitted us to remain very flexible,
and often ahead of much larger competitors.
We have established our credentials as one of the most innovative and fastest
growing companies in the sector, reacting quickly to take advantage of the
latest technological developments.
We have just had our busiest quarter ever, with increasing orders, a fast expanding sales team,
and many new opportunities. As we continue to grow, we are taking on many new projects aimed
at improving our products, internal systems and processes.
In tackling these new projects, we are focusing on quality of service, and access to information.
The market around us is changing. Most of our previously feared competitors are facing
serious problems, and many won't survive in their current form.
Our strategy will continue to be the development of a range of products that spans from
SoHos to large accounts, something a lot of our competitors have not done.
We believe that the small companies of today are the large ones of tomorrow,
so we pay attention and listen to all our clients.

| Claranet United Kingdom (www.uk.clara.net) |
Founded in the UK in 1996 by Charles Nasser, Claranet has since become one of the most successful
independent Internet Service Providers in Europe. Heading up Claranet UK is Steve Rawlinson.
Through the acquisition of Netscalibur UK in July 2003, Claranet is now the UK's largest non-telco
Internet Service Provider to business. The acquisition confirms Claranet's position as one of
Europe's leading Internet firms and is the largest such deal to have occurred in the UK in the
past year. Claranet won "Best Business ISP" in the ISPA (Internet Service Provider Association)
Awards in both 2002 and 2003 as well as "Best ISP on the Planet" from Internet Magazine.
As a full member of LINX (London Internet Exchange) and a Tier 1, pan-European provider,
Claranet spends vast amounts of time and money testing and researching everything it takes to
get a business up and running successfully on the Internet. Our portfolio ranges from
providing a simple dial up facility for easy, instant communications at home to creating
a bespoke virtual private network for corporates.

| Claranet France (www.claranet.fr) |
In 1998, we launched our Paris-based company Claranet France Sarl. Heading up Claranet France
is Nicolas Prouteau. Claranet France offers a comprehensive range of business to business Internet
products including web access, hosting and e-commerce solutions. It also has a consumer web access
offering. We now have approximately 500,000 registered business and consumer customers in France.
|
| Claranet Germany (www.claranet.de) |
Claranet Germany GmbH, based in Frankfurt, was launched in August 2000 following significant
investment in the company's European backbone. The company is headed up by Olaf Fischer,
who was formerly director of O.Tel.O Communications GmbH and its subsidiary company Callisto
Germany.net GmbH (now a subsidiary of ARCOR). Claranet added to its German operations during
September 2002 with the acquisition of the German subsidiary of Netscalibur.
This provided a further two German offices in both Berlin and Munich -
complimenting the existing infrastructure and making Claranet one of the major
players in Europe's largest market.
Since its launch, Claranet Germany has experienced rapid growth through offering highly
competitive home access services. It has also added web hosting and collocation solutions
to its portfolio, expanding its reach to business customers. Claranet Germany now has over
700,000 customers from consumer and business markets.
|
| Claranet Spain (www.claranet.es) |
Claranet Spain, based in Barcelona, was launched in December 2000 following the acquisition of
CatWorld Network, an established Spanish ISP. Headed up by Carles Acero,
Claranet Spain offers a range of business to business and consumer Internet products.
Claranet is still one of the few British born Internet service providers to expand successfully
on the continent, and our office in Barcelona will act as a platform for the company's
Spanish development.

But don't take our word for it…
… some comments from our customers
|
John Hall Manager - IT & Service co-ordination Siemens Automation & Drives
"When Siemens Automation & Drives decided to trial an ADSL Virtual Private Network to extend
their existing extensive corporate network for home use, the selection of the right provider
was of paramount importance. Claranet were able to convince us that their technical capabilities,
network infrastructure, cost structure, support flexibility and close relationship with BT were
what we were looking for to ensure a successful implementation.
We have been delighted by the service offered to us by Claranet. Despite the fact that they were
set a very demanding challenge to connect more than 50 home users to ADSL within a month,
Claranet worked closely with BT and ourselves to ensure that this was achieved.
Throughout the process we were kept informed of progress and we were shielded from
any need to liase with BT directly, even when appointments had to be re-scheduled because
users were unavailable.
Claranet achieved their objective and the results so far have been impressive."
Ben Rapp, Managing Director, Managed Networks
"Managed Networks deals with most of the UK's Internet Service Providers in the course of our
business, supporting all the computing needs of small and medium enterprises.
We can confidently say that Claranet has been efficient, professional and courteous in
all our dealings with them, and we have not hesitated in making them our selected service
provider and recommending them to all our customers."
Carol Blackford Mills - MRS Web Solutions Limited
"Having worked with Claranet over the past two years, I can honestly say that the service,
professionalism and commitment is second to none. Claranet are the only ISP I use and can trust."
Tony Cadwallader - Lichfield Web Design
"As a Web Designer and perl programmer, for my business customers, I am looking for minimum
downtime so that their web sites are always available, technical reliability so that
e-commerce scripting is always working, and a friendly technical help service,
and competitive pricing of product - with Claranet I am pleased to report that I have found it.
Over the four years since I have been dealing with Claranet they have consistently been friendly
and helpful and on many occasions have put themselves out for my customers, and being a
British Company always helps a sale!"
Ansgar Geist, Technical Director of DGN Service (A German Online Service working with in the healthcare sector)
"There are certainly lots of arguments, that point out Claranet's professional and
customer-friendly services. First of all I want to point out, that Claranet has delivered
all its services just in due time or even ahead of schedule.
We appreciate Claranet's product reliability and - if there are any questions -
the competence of the colleagues we contacted."
Jez D'Netto, Online General Manager, Tower Records Europe
"We have used Claranet for leased line and ISDN access for a year now and its service is
second to none. The technical and customer support services are one of the best in the industry."
Franck Latremoliere, Europe Economics.
"Reliable, and definitely value for money."
Managing Director, Pipeline GmbH (German Gamer Café)
"As a Claranet user since October 2000, we were very impressed of the high quality
Internet-connection Claranet serves to us. Within our business as an Internet-cafe
we need nearly 100% capability of our Internet-gateway, and we recommended Claranet
as a professional choice for the combination of high service and payable prices."
Peter Osborne - ADSL customer
"Thank you for arranging to send me a modem so that I could try out the ADSL account set up for me.
I can confirm that this seems to be working normally, and I am not experiencing any
problems at this stage.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in setting up the ADSL account.
Your staff have been extremely helpful, especially during the testing of my line which
proved to be difficult, and during the installation process.
You have gone out of your way to make me feel valued as your customer, and I will have no
hesitation in recommending your services to others - I have subsequently sent a letter to a
specialist magazine for blind and partially sighted computer users encouraging others to join you."
Verena Reb, Online Redakteurin, Sixworx (Frankfurt based Web Company)
